Keeping your bathroom clean is vital to maintaining good personal hygiene, and dirt-free shower tiles are essential. However, sometimes this chore takes a lot more effort than anyone wants to put into it.
Do you want to save your energy instead of spending it all on applying elbow grease? These five methods are the best ways to clean shower tiles without scrubbing!
Method #1. Steam clean the tiles
Shower tiles don’t always need a deep cleaning. If this is your situation, you can steam clean them instead of using a stronger method. Steam is excellent for loosening superficial stains and grime, and for that, you have two options on how to use this method:
- With a steam cleaner: Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to remove the grime using the right settings.
- With the shower: Let the hot water run in your shower for ten minutes. Then, turn off the shower and wipe the tiles with a clean cloth.
Method #2. Clean the tiles with vinegar and detergent
White vinegar is one of the most common cleaning hacks you can find on the internet, so you’ve probably heard of the many ways it can help due to its acidic properties. These qualities are particularly helpful for your tiles, especially when dealing with hard water stains.
To try this method, fill a spray bottle with equal amounts of dish detergent and vinegar. Then, apply to the stained spots and, after one hour, run the shower to rinse the tiles. You can also use a damp microfiber cloth to wipe the solution off the tiles the shower doesn’t reach.
Method #3. Clean tiles with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide
This method is great if you have more than just light grime and dirt on your tiles and grout! Baking soda is a common household product that can dissolve the residue, and hydrogen peroxide breaks down stains. When mixed, they make for a powerful cleaning solution.
To clean tiles with these products, mix half a cup of baking soda and a quarter cup of hydrogen peroxide in a bowl. This will result in a paste you’ll apply to the grimy spots with a spatula or spoon. After thirty minutes, clean the paste off the tiles with clean water and a microfiber cloth.
Method #4. Use oxygen bleach to clean the tiles
If you’re looking for a potent disinfectant and cleaner, oxygen bleach is a strong chemical product perfect for dissolving grime and killing germs. However, even if it’s less toxic than chlorine bleach, it still needs to be watered down to avoid damage to the tiles.
Add three tablespoons of oxygen bleach to two gallons of water. Then, pour or spray it on the tiles and, after fifteen minutes, rinse with clean water from the shower. Just remember to keep the area ventilated while waiting!
Method #5. Clean with borax and hydrogen peroxide
If your tiles are not as clean as you wanted, and scrubbing is the other option, this combination is your last resort. Borax and hydrogen peroxide are one of the strongest combinations to clean your tiles without scrubbing or damaging them.
For this method, mix half a cup of borax and one and a half cups of water in a bowl. Spread this mix over the stained tiles with the help of a spoon or spatula. Then, after at least five hours, spray hydrogen peroxide over the tiles and wait two more hours.
Once the time’s passed, wipe away the cleaning solutions with a microfiber cloth and clean water.
